Korean ladies place covers on their knees as they sit.

In general, Korean ladies cover their knees with blankets for three main reasons. In cafes, restaurants, and other public spaces, K-pop idols, TV show guests, and everyday folks utilize them. First of all, while they're on stage, they find it awkward to sit down in short dresses or skirts. It's dangerous for them to be overexposed at any aspect because the cameramen record them from many perspectives. Second, it's just part of their culture; in Korea, it's considered polite to cover one's legs when seated with a blanket or veil. They are treating their viewers with respect by doing this. Finally, if they are standing or sitting still, it can get rather chilly in the studio.
